Pressure vessels
Static equipment design has historically been the core business of our engineering division.
VCE Engineering offers the complete design of pressure equipment such as:
- Heat exchangers
- Boilers
- Pressure vessels
- Accumulators / Dampers
- Separators / Filters
- Reactors
- Distillation colums / fractionation columns
- Pig traps (launcher and receiver)
- Direct flame heaters
The detail engineering is developed according to customer and/or end-user specifications, as well as in accordance with international standards, among which:
- ASME BPVC Sect.VIII div. 1

- EN 13445
- PD 5500
- AD 2000 Merkblatt
- VSR
- GOST 52857
- TEMA R-C-D
- ASME B31.4/31.8 (for pig traps)
In particular, equipment are dimensioned and tested to withstand:
- Internal and/or external pressure
- Localized loads on the nozzles and supporting clips (verified by WRC bulletins, PD5500 standards, EN 13445, GOST 52857, or finite element analysis)
- External load testing (wind, earthquake, snow)
- Live loads (live loads, inertial loads, accidental loads)
- Verification of equipment in transport, lifting and installation conditions (including verification of dedicated accessories)
The design by formula is carried out using specific software or spreadsheets developed and validated by VCE Engineering s.r.l.
For those equipment or components where a verification by formula is not possible, or if the customer requests it, the design of the equipment can be performed by Finite Element Analysis.
The design activities includes not only the static calculation as explained above, but also the preparation of the General Arrangement, The detail drawings for construction and transport drawing. In addition, material lists are drawn up so that the manufacturer can complete the equipment.
VCE engineering is able to assist the customer in the process of obtaining the CE certification according to the directive for pressure equipment PED 2014/68/EU, providing the necessary information for the development of the project as required by the Directive and preparing the documents needed for the technical file.
